She sat down by her room’s window and looked down at the street from the second floor of their house. Last night, she prayed that she would see her soul mate pass by her bedroom window. Desiree is 25 and with no boyfriends since birth. So, she finally asked for the signs, whether she’s destined to have someone to spend her life with, or just be alone.

She prayed for the signs: the first guy wearing dual-shades of navy blue and white checked mens dress shirts that she will meet on that day will be her soul mate. But if none, then she’s not destined to have someone to spend her life with. She waited for hours and hours, checking every man in dark blue custom dress shirts

Perhaps this situation is common to you and to a lot of people, considering that many people out there believe in soul mates and signs that would lead the to their partners in life. But what is really a soul mate?  According to Wikipedia, they define soul mate, or a twin soul or twin flame as someone whom one has emotions of deep intimacy, compatibility and spirituality. A soul mate is the one and only other half of a person’s soul in which all souls are driven to join.

In one of the poll survey results featured in YouthSays.com, an online social networking that caters to the Asian youth, one of the most popular and highly answered questions is the one that’s about soul mates. To be more specific, the question goes like this: Do you believe in the concept of a soul mate? The respondents are done randomly and by volunteer. There’s a total of 207 youth who responded on the poll.

From the totality of 207 youth who responded, 68 percent or 142 youth believe in the idea of a soul mate. On the other hand, only 31 percent, which comprise 42 respondents said they do not believe in soul mates at all.

At 6:54PM, Desiree went down from her bedroom and went to shop to get something for her grandmother. When she was about to enter the convenient store, she ran and bumped into a guy in dark blue and white checked custom dress shirts unexpectedly. Then she looked up and found herself starring eye to eye with the man… and then she immediately knew.

Indeed, like Desiree, a lot of people still believe in the concept of a soul mate, despite the modernization of the generation brought about by the fast and high technology that hopes to terminate the concept of idealism and traditions.
